Steps Race values your privacy and the protection of your personal data. This privacy policy describes what information we collect from you, how we collect it, how we use it, how we obtain your consent, how long we keep it in our databases and, if necessary, with whom we share it.
By using the platform, you are accepting the practices described in this privacy policy. Your use of the platform is also subject to our terms of service. In this privacy policy, the words "platform" refers to the Steps Race mobile application and the Steps Race website together, unless referred to individually in the document, "we", "us", "our", and "Steps Race", refers to Steps Race, and "you", and "user" refers to you, the user of Steps Race.
This privacy policy may change from time to time. Your continued use of the platform after we make changes to this privacy policy will be deemed acceptance of those changes, so please check this policy periodically for updates. This privacy policy has been developed and is maintained in accordance with all applicable national and international laws and regulations.

When you use the platform, you register as a user, purchase a subscription, use the functions available on the platform, subscribe to our newsletter, contact us through our contact details and provide us with personal information to communicate with you, you consent to our collection, storage and use of your information under the terms set out in this privacy policy.
Steps Race asks for your permission before accessing step-count data from a supported health or fitness service or device permission. You may decline this permission, although the step-counting and race features will not function. You may withdraw the permission at any time through your device settings.
The information we collect from our users helps us to continually improve the user experience on the platform. These are the types of information we collect:
Information you provide to us: You provide information when you use the platform, register as a user, purchase a subscription, use the features available on the platform, contact us through our contact details and provide us with personal information to communicate with you. As a result of those actions, you may provide us with the following information:
Information Collected Automatically: Steps Race automatically collects certain types of information during users' use of the application. This collection includes technical data such as device type, operating system, device settings, application usage and interaction preferences. This information is essential to improve the functionality and performance of the application, as well as to customize the user experience and ensure system compatibility. All data collected is handled in accordance with our privacy policy, ensuring its protection and confidentiality.
Health and Fitness Data (Step Count): With your permission, Steps Race accesses and collects your step-count data from your device's supported health or fitness service or activity permission, including Health Connect on Android and Apple Health/HealthKit on iOS where available. Step count is health and fitness data. Steps Race does not use this permission to access unrelated health data such as heart rate, medical records, diagnoses, medications, sleep, or precise location.
We use step-count data only to provide the app's user-facing features: count your progress toward a race goal, update your race status and leaderboard position, apply in-game race effects, and show race progress to you and the other participants in the same race. Daily step totals may be cached in the app's local database on your device. Your total steps and race progress for a race are transmitted to and stored on Google Firebase servers so that races can synchronize across participants and devices.
We do not sell step-count or other health and fitness data. We do not use it for advertising, marketing, data-broker services, credit or insurance decisions, or any purpose unrelated to the Steps Race features described above. We do not share it with advertisers. Access by service providers is limited to processing needed to host, secure, maintain, and synchronize Steps Race, subject to their service terms and privacy obligations.
User Content: Steps Race collects, processes and stores user content, which includes data and information entered on our platform, solely for the provision and improvement of our services and the functionalities available on the platform. User content is securely stored on Google Firebase servers. We are committed to maintaining the confidentiality and security of this content, and will not share it with third parties, unless required by law or for the operation of the platform. Users have the right to access, modify and request deletion of their information, in accordance with our data retention policies and applicable law. Use of our platform implies consent to the processing of this data as described in this policy.
Payment Information: When you purchase an in-app subscription through Steps Race, your payment information will be securely processed by the Google Play Store and Apple App Store in accordance with their privacy policies and terms of use. Steps Race does not store or access your payment information.

Firebase: We use Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics provided by Google, Inc. of the United States ("Google") and certain functionalities such as Firebase Crashlytics, Firebase Analytics, Google Analytics, Cloud Firestore, Firebase Performance Monitoring, Firebase Dynamic Links, Firebase Authentication, etc. These tools and technologies collect and analyze certain types of information, such as feature usage metrics and statistics, usage history, unique device identifiers and other similar information. The information generated by Firebase may be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. We use Firebase to improve our platform.

GOOGLE Analytics: We use Google Analytics provided by Google, Inc., USA (“Google”). These tool and technologies collect and analyse certain types of information, including IP addresses, device and software identifiers, referring and exit URLs, feature use metrics and statistics, usage history, media access control address (MAC Address), mobile unique device identifiers, and other similar information via the use of cookies. The information generated by Google Analytics (including your IP address) may be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. We use the GOOGLE Analytics collection of data to enhance the platform and improve our service.

Social Media: On our platform you will find links and functions linked to different social networks, where you can share your information. It is advisable to consult the privacy and data protection policy of each social network used on our platform.
Contact information: We may access some personal information about the user, such as name and email address, when the user or any third party communicates with us through our contact information. Personal information provided through our contact information is not stored on any Steps Race server and will be stored on the respective server of our email service.
Personal data provided by users through the platform will be retained for the time necessary to provide the functionalities available on the platform, fulfill the legitimate purposes described in this policy or until the user closes the user account or requests the deletion of their data. Steps Race may retain personal data for a longer period provided that the user has consented to such processing, as long as such consent is not withdrawn. In addition, Steps Race may be obliged to retain personal data for a longer period provided that this is required for compliance with a legal obligation or by order of an authority. Once the retention period has expired, the personal data will be deleted. Therefore, the right of access, the right of deletion, the right of rectification and the right to data portability cannot be asserted after the retention period has expired.
Daily step totals cached on your device remain there until you use the Delete all steps control in Profile Settings, remove the application and its local data, or the app replaces them during synchronization. Race step totals and progress stored on our servers are retained while needed to operate your account and current or historical races, and are deleted or de-identified when you ask us to delete this data, unless we must retain limited information to comply with law, resolve disputes, prevent fraud or abuse, or enforce our agreements.
You can stop future access to step-count data by revoking Steps Race's permission in Health Connect, Apple Health, or your device's application permission settings. Revoking access stops future collection but does not automatically delete daily totals already cached on your device or race progress already stored on our servers. Use Delete all steps in Profile Settings to delete the local daily step cache. To request deletion of your Steps Race account and associated server-side step totals and race data, email support@tuxedolab.com from the email address connected to your account. Deleting data from Health Connect or Apple Health is managed separately through those services.
In general, we use the data we collect primarily to provide, maintain, protect and improve our platform and to properly deliver the functionalities available on the platform. We use the data collected through our platform as described below:
Information about our customers is an important part of our business, and we are not in the business of selling it to others. We share customer information only as described below.
Third-Party Service Providers: We use third-party services to perform certain functions on our platform. Some of these functions and services include: Platform hosting (Google Play, App Store), storing information on servers (Google Firebase), payment processing (Google Play, App Store), subscription management and administration functions (RevenueCat), performing tracking and analytics functions on the Platform (Google Analytics), serving ads on the Platform (Google AdMob), and sending emails.
These third-party services and tools may have access to personal information needed to perform their functions, but may not use that information for other purposes. Information shared with these third-party services will be treated and stored in accordance with their respective privacy policies and our privacy policy.
Other Race Participants: When you join a race, your step total and race progress are displayed to the other participants in that race so that the race and its leaderboard can function. We do not make your underlying health records available to other participants.
Health and Fitness Data: Google Firebase processes stored step-count information and derived race progress only as our hosting and synchronization service provider. We do not permit Firebase, analytics providers, advertising providers, or other third parties to use your health and fitness data for advertising, marketing, or their own independent purposes. We disclose health and fitness data to another party only when needed to provide the race features described in this policy, with your explicit consent, for security and abuse prevention, when required by law, or as part of a merger or acquisition subject to applicable law.
Marketing: By using our services and platform, you consent to the use of your personal information, including name and email address, for the sole purpose of receiving communications about our platform. Steps Race respects your privacy and does not share this information with unauthorized third parties. If you wish to stop receiving marketing communications, you can unsubscribe at any time by using the "unsubscribe" option available in the same marketing emails or by sending your request through our contact information.
Business Transfers: In the event Steps Race creates, merges with, or is acquired by another entity, your information will likely be transferred. Steps Race will send you an email or post a prominent notice on our platform before your information becomes subject to another privacy policy.
Protection of Steps Race and Others: We release personal information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with the law, enforce or apply our terms and conditions and other agreements, or protect the rights, property, or safety of Steps Race, our users, or others. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organizations for fraud protection and credit risk reduction.
Anonymous Information: Steps Race uses anonymous browsing information collected automatically by our servers primarily to help us administer and improve the platform. We may also use aggregated anonymous information to provide information about the platform to potential business partners and other unaffiliated entities. This information is not personally identifiable.
In the event of a security breach that compromises the confidentiality of the personal data of our users, Steps Race undertakes to notify those affected in a timely manner. This notification will be made through the means of contact that have been provided by the user on our platform. We will take all reasonable measures to protect the information and remedy any situation that compromises the security of your data.
By using our platform, you agree that your personal data may be transferred and processed outside your home country, where data protection legislation may differ from that of your country. Steps Race is committed to taking the necessary steps to ensure that your data is treated in accordance with applicable privacy protection rules and is adequately protected during any international transfer.
We grant access to your personal information only to those outside persons or services that have a legitimate need to know it and in accordance with our privacy policy. We adhere to industry-recognized security standards to protect your personal information, both during transmission and in storage. However, it is important to note that no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is foolproof and 100% secure. Therefore, while we at Steps Race strive to implement commercially viable data protection methods, we cannot ensure absolute security of your personal information. We undertake not to sell, distribute or transfer your personal data to unauthorized third parties, unless we have your explicit consent or are required by law to do so.
Personal and sensitive information, including step-count data, is transmitted using modern cryptography such as HTTPS/TLS. We apply access controls intended to limit access to authorized systems, service providers, and personnel who need the information to operate and secure Steps Race.
Users who provide information through our platform, as data subjects, have the right to access, rectify, download or delete their information, as well as to restrict and oppose certain processing of their information. While some of these rights apply generally, others only apply in certain limited circumstances. These rights are described below:
Users or holders of personal data provided through the platform may exercise these rights over their personal data at any time and without limitation by sending their request through our contact information. The request to exercise their rights will be attended and answered within a maximum period of 10 working days.
We comply with the requirements of national and international data protection regulations regarding the protection of personal data of minors. Our platform is intended for persons over the age of 13. We do not collect any information from children under the age of 13. If we become aware that a child under the age of 13 has provided us with personal information, we will take immediate steps to delete that information.
Except as expressly included in this privacy policy, this document addresses only the use and disclosure of information Steps Race collects from you. If you disclose your information to third parties, whether other users or affiliates of Steps Race, different rules may apply to their use or disclosure of the information you disclose to them. Steps Race does not control the privacy policies of third parties, and you are subject to the privacy policies of such third parties where applicable. Steps Race is not responsible for the privacy or security practices of other third party platforms or services, including those linked to or from the Steps Race platform.
